World’s 1st Covid-19 vaccine successfully completed by Russian university

Covaxin , India’s first Covid 19 vaccine is under trail on volunteers.

A Russian university has successfully completed human trials of the first Covid-19 vaccine on volunteers, claimed local media reports.

The human trials of the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine have been completed at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, reported Sputnik News quoting Vadim Tarasov, the director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology.

The university began human clinical trials on the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Russia’s Gamelei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology on June 18.

Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University has successfully completed the clinical trials of the world’s first coronavirus vaccine on volunteers, Vadim Tarasov, director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology, told Sputnik, adding that the first group of volunteers will be discharged on Wednesday and the second on July 20. 

On June 18th, the university started clinical trials of the vaccine produced by the Russian Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.

“Sechenov University has successfully completed trials of the world’s first coronavirus vaccine on volunteers,” Tarasov said.

According to Alexander Lukashev, the director of Sechenov University’s Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-Borne D iseases, the purpose of this stage of the study was to demonstrate the protection of the vaccine for human health, which was successfully achieved.


“The vaccine is verified to be effective.

This is in line with the protection of those vaccines currently on the market, “Lukashev told Sputnik.

The developer ‘s strategy, including the uncertainty of the epidemiologic situation with the virus and the prospect of scaling up production, Lukashev added, is already deciding the further vaccine development plan.

“In a pandemic situation, Sechenov University acted not only as an educational institution but also as a center of scientific and technological research capable of participating in the creation of such important and complex products as drugs.

We have been working with this vaccine, beginning with preclinical studies and the development of protocols, and clinical trials are currently under way, “noted Tarasov.

In addition to this Indian company Biotech has on the way of testing Covaxin ( India’s 1st Covid-19 vaccine) is under trail of phase 1 & phase 2 & as per dates given will be launched by August 15.
